Another Korean press report on the gov’t investigation.
“The Fair Trade Commission (FSC) has embarked on an
investigation of the U.S. Microsoft over its disputes with domestic
computer retailers over the price of Windows ’98.”
“The retailers, based in Yongsan, in concert with other local
sellers Tuesday criticized the price of Windows 98. The mainstay
operating system developed by Microsoft as a follow-up to Windows
95, was seen as “unfairly higher” compared to price levels in
other Asian regions.”

BTW, Microsoft’s complaint about software piracy in Korea is
valid. It is rampant here, computer dealers will “offer” to load
copyrighted software; you don’t even have to ask.
