“With Microsoft still grappling with the bad publicity stemming
from the negative results of its antitrust battle with the U.S.
government, domestic software developers yesterday launched a
venture consortium based on Linux to compete with the monopolistic
Windows operating system.”

“Joining hands in the consortium named “Allix” are Dr. Ahn’s
Anti-Virus Laboratories Inc., Linux One Inc., Pharos Information
Inc., PLM Consulting Inc., Konan Technology Inc. and Namo
Interactive Inc.”

Allix, which stands for “Alliance for Linux” software, will
empower its technological and marketing edge in conjunction with
participating software firms in an effort to nurture the market
environment for Linux…
“Given that Korea will have at least
300,000 Linux users next year, Allix expects to carve out a
significant share with quality applications products,” said Park
Hung-ho, president of Namo Interactive and co-chairman of the newly
launched Allix, at a press conference.”
