Lineo has announced a partnership with the Tao Group to
enable Lineo to include high-performance, compact embedded Java
solutions for multimedia platforms within their Embedix SDK
developer tools.

Embedded features will include 2D and 3D graphics, fonts, and
streaming video and audio in devices such as smart phones, set
tops, cameras and web pads. According to Lineo, the partnership
will also include a strong emphasis on enabling manufacturers to
differentiate by the incorporation of their own technologies on to
the platform and the provision of on-screen branding.

The partnership between Lineo and Tao will integrate Lineo’s
engineering, support, sales and embedded Linux expertise with the
Tao ‘intent’ software platform. The ‘intent’ software platform is
incorporated into several products to be released worldwide in
2001.
