“Zoid (zoid@idsoftware.com) is one of the main developers for Id
Software, most popular for their Doom and Quake series of 3-D video
games. Zoid is working on Linux ports of their games.”

“Linux.com: I’d guess no one can dispute that Linux is gaining
popularity as a server, making it a workhorse in all sorts of ways,
especially when teamed with Apache for webserving. Do you expect
that the focus will shift towards Linux as a “fun” personal
computer / gaming machine / home hobby machine?”

“Zoid: I definitely think so. I think as people begin to
understand that Linux can be more than just a reliable server. It
can also be a reliable desktop workstation as well. Providing games
for the Linux platform make that transition for users even easier.
I know I wouldn’t be running Linux if I couldn’t play the Quake
games on it. :)”
