“Loki is doing quite well these days. With a few successful
ports under its belt, and many more on the way, Loki is an
instrumental part of making Linux games happen. Their latest
shipping game title, Railroad Tycoon II, is an entertaining and
addictive strategy game, similar to Loki’s Civilization: Call to
Power in its addictiveness.”

Railroad Tycoon II has been out for Windows for a little
while now. The version that Loki ported was the Gold Edition, which
includes the original game, the Second Century expansion, and more
scenarios.
Gold Edition was not available for Windows users
until September, so this Linux port is quite recent.”

“The Linux version of Railroad Tycoon II requires Linux, an X
server with 1024×768 resolution configured, Pentium 133, 16MB RAM,
a 4X CD-ROM, 200 MB free hard drive space, and Internet access for
multiplayer gameplay. The system tested was a Pentium III 500 MHz
with 256 MB RAM and a Voodoo3 3000 card running Red Hat Linux 6.1.
Railroad Tycoon II does not take advantage of 3D acceleration, but
being the kind of strategy game that it is, it’s not required.”
