“Linux.com: What is gPhoto and what was your
inspiration for starting the project? How did it evolve from
GtKam?”
“Scott Fritzinger: gPhoto provides a way
for people to use their digital cameras under Linux and other
platforms. It allows a user to retrieve photos from over 130
different models of digital cameras.“
“…Linux.com: What plans are in store for the
next generation, gPhoto2?”
“Scott Fritzinger: We are aiming at complete
cross-platform support. We have updated the old GTK+ interface for
gPhoto2 already, but there are plans in the works to add KDE and
GNOME front-ends, in addition to interfaces for other
platforms.”
“Another key feature would be built-in daemon (server) support.
gPhoto2 will have the ability to run as a daemon so you can
remotely access digital camera (imaging) devices.”
