“The world of embedded Linux solutions just got bigger with the
announcement of a Linux-powered version of the CerfBoard hardware
product by Intrinsyc. At less than 5.5 square inches, saying that
the StrongARM-powered CerfBoard has a small footprint would be an
understatement.”

“…Internet.com launched Apache Today, a repository of Apache
news and information. With an all-star cast of well-known Apache
experts including Ken Coar, Martin C. Brown, and Ryan Bloom, Apache
Today aims to provide news and original in-depth articles.”

“…The second Linux company to announce wide-ranging layoffs
and expense cuts is TurboLinux, makers of the TurboLinux
distribution and clustering software. “The main reason we’re doing
it is just market realities,” said Lonn Johnson, TurboLinux’ VP of
Marketing. “In the old days, not just Linux companies but lots of
companies were going as quickly as possible to grab market share,
build products, develop technologies, and do all kinds of stuff.
The market said, ‘That’s cool, you can worry about profitability
later.’ You can certainly see in the last month, that that’s no
longer cool, and you need to have a pretty clear path to
profitability.”

“…This is the first of the Week in Review series, to be
published every Saturday morning.
