“Since VisualWorks Non Commercial (VWNC) has been freely
released for Linux, there’s been an increased interest in the Linux
community about Smalltalk. The purpose of this article is to give
an introduction to Smalltalk for Linux enthusiasts who aren’t
familiar with it, and to share some of the characteristics of
this language that endears itself to so many programmers. There’s
lots of tutorials and references to Smalltalk out there already.
This article isn’t intended to be a tutorial or reference for OO
programming or Smalltalk, but just a quick tour to whet the
