excellent time line of the Linux kernel releases. From his
page:

“The following table gives the known parameters of all releases
of the Linux operating system kernel that survive, stating the size
of the tarball when compressed using bzip2 and the latest timestamp
found within the tarball. Green entries relate to releases
considered stable, other entries are development releases.”
