It’s time for another episode of Linux Today Quick Takes. First
up: The polls.
Matthew Miller has
alerted us to this
poll at Deja.com. It’s similar to the other NOS poll, but
this one is for Operating Systems in general. Matthew is dismayed
to find that Linux is at the bottom of the poll.
mr mom sent us a
link to a CNET poll where they
are asking for a vote on “the most important technology of the
90’s. Windows currently has 40% of the votes, Linux takes 16%.
Francisco Burzi has some
Spanish O’Reilly Books Reviews to
read. Today they published a review for the Linux Network
Administrator’s Guide, the first of 8 reviews. Spanish readers
should get some use out of this.
Jim pointed us to this
week’s
Unix Riot where the author gives a 3 line mention to the
Linux Demo
Day. The Unix Riot also has some good info on biometrics.
A variety of people (including Lucio and Rob Kennedy) are saying that the
kernel 2.2.10 is released. There is no official announcement on
this kernel yet (we’ll post the announcement to the newswire when
it arrives), so in the meantime, you can download it from Linuxberg.
Lastly, don’t miss this week’s article by Tom Adelstein:
How to
successfully sell Linux. This is good reading.
