“Have an open source project that you need some help with? Well,
a well-known search-engine giant is kicking off its third Summer of
Code, an innovative program that pays college students to write
open-source software over their summer vacation; and the Google
folks want to talk to you.

“For the next few months, the company will be working with open
source groups to select hundreds of student projects from thousands
of applications. Then, during the summer, Google will distribute
millions of dollars in stipends to the students and their mentoring
organizations…”
