[ Thanks to Carlie

“Here are the contestants; Caldera OpenLinux eDesktop version
2.4; Corel Linux OS Second Edition; Linux Mandrake 7.1; Redhat
Linux 6.2; and Storm Linux 2000. Each one can be considered the
Deluxe version of the distribution, boxed with manuals, and email
and/or telephone support. Caldera OpenLinux, Corel Linux, and Storm
Linux 2000 are based on the Debian distribution. A total of
eight Linux distribution companies were contacted for review
copies, using links on their home pages. These are the ones that
responded.

“…I discovered that these distributions have almost as much in
common as they have in contrast. GUI-based Installation programs,
well-written manuals that go beyond the specific OS, online
documentation in HTML format, and GUI and menu-based system
administration programs are now commonplace. There are differences
in supported hardware, so check a potential distribution’s support
for your system configuration before any install or purchase. There
are also differences in the quality of included Help information,
overall ease of use, included software, and what programs are
provided for system administration. This article has attempted to
point out some of these differences. More information can be found
at each distribution’s home page. The URL’s are listed below. If
anyone from GNU/Debian, SuSE, Turbolinux, or any other Intel-based
distribution would like their software added to this review, please
contact me.”
