The KDE Team has announced the release of KDE 1.91.
Codenamed “Kleopatra,” the release is the second beta preview of
KDE’s upcoming modular desktop. The final version, Kopernicus, is
slated for delivery in September.

“Kleopatra’s release comes just a month following the release of
KDE 1.90, aka Konfucious. Kleopatra is based on Qt 2.1 and is
geared to include the core libraries, the core desktop environment,
the KOffice suite, and many of the other standard base KDE packages
such as: kdeadmin, kdegames, kdegraphics, kdenetwork,
kdemultimedia, kdetoys and kdeutils. Kleopatra is targeted at
developers and interested users. For those compiling from source,
KDE advises that users consult the compilation instructions.”

“Earlier this month, KDE’s Kurt Granroth posted the release
schedule leading up to KDE 2.0’s completion. “Each beta will be
released roughly four weeks apart. This will give us time to fix
all of the bugs reported AND ensure that the final release is as
complete and STABLE as possible,” he said.”
