“Chinese Penguin64 a major advance in Linux development.”

“China’s Institute of Software, Chinese Academy of Sciences
today unveiled the world’s first 64-bit Chinese Linux operating
system at the Great Hall of the People. The release of this
native server software, Chinese Penguin64, represents a major
advance in Linux development, combining the advantage of
open-source computing and unlimited 64-bit processing power with
native Chinese language capability.

“The Institute of Software developed Chinese Penguin64 in
collaboration with Donovan Systems, using Donovan’s cutting-edge
64-bit hardware. Singapore-based Donovan Systems, the premier
developer of 64-bit Linux systems, supported the development of
Chinese Penguin64 by sharing their knowledge and expertise of
64-bit UltraSPARC processing technology. Donovan also contributed
towards the development cost of Chinese Penguin64. The Institute of
Software and Donovan Systems share the intellectual property of
Chinese Penguin64 on UltraSPARC.”
