“MetaLab.unc.edu (formerly known as SunSite.unc.edu) announces
Linsearch, a new tool for retrieving Linux-related software.
Using the OpenSource search engine, Isearch, and a
template-based query interface, developers at MetaLab have made
over 4,000 software packages in their archives
searchable.”

“Linsearch uses developer-created metadata files called Linux
Software Maps (LSMs) to search the MetaLab archives.”

“Since 1992 MetaLab’s Linux collection has been an important
resource for the OpenSource community. Developers use MetaLab to
distribute their work, and Linux users look to MetaLab for free,
current downloads.”
