“Key players in Linux Development share ideas on future of
Linux”

“Corel Corporation is pleased to announce that the first meeting
of the Corel Linux Advisory Council was a great success. The
Council is a forum that allows leading vendors, as well as open
source and commercial Linux® advocates, to come together to
discuss the challenges and opportunities facing Linux.”

“The first meeting of the council took place on June 14 and 15,
1999, in Ottawa. Members discussed a variety of issues, including:
the possibility of developing a centralized depository for Linux,
giving users one online site for bug fixes, patches, etc.; making
Linux training available on the Web; creating a centralized
training model for recognized Linux certification; the importance
of making Linux available in universities and in elementary and
high schools; and the importance of supporting local user
groups.”
