Lineo and USE Merger Expands Embedded Linux Support for
Non-Intel Platforms; Acquisition Includes Office in
Japan.

“Lineo, Inc., the leading developer of embedded Linux®
system software, today announced that United System Engineers
(USE), based in Shiojiri, Nagano, Japan has agreed to be acquired
by Lineo. USE is a custom systems engineering company with 15 years
of experience in embedded system engineering for some of the
largest technology vendors in the worldwide embedded system market.
USE specializes in embedded printing, networking and support for
multiple chip architectures.”

“USE has a long history of custom systems engineering on a wide
variety of hardware platforms including MIPs, Hitachi, SPARC,
Motorola and Intel. This acquisition by Lineo expands the ability
to run Lineo Embedix Linux, the premier Embedded Linux operating
system, on these platforms, providing OEMs with expanded hardware
platform options. In addition to USE’s specialty in embedded Linux
development, USE has an extensive background in a number of other
operating systems, including UNIX, OS-9, NeXTStep, DOS and
Windows.”
