“MontaVista Software Inc., developer of the Hard Hat Linux
operating system for embedded computers, today announces the
inauguration of the company’s European headquarters in Paris,
France. The French operation will commence an aggressive staffing
plan to attain an anticipated headcount of 15 to 20 employees
within its first 60 days of doing business. With an initial focus
on France and southern Europe, the MontaVista European team will
grow to include the United Kingdom, Germany, and the Nordic
countries later this summer and will have responsibility for other
non-North American (ROW) sales and support activities.”

“MontaVista Software was founded in 1999 by real-time operating
system (RTOS) pioneer James Ready. The company provides its Hard
Hat Linux distribution tailored for embedded computers from
telecommunications switching equipment to Internet appliances.
MontaVista’s international expansion accompanies the rapid growth
in both staffing and revenues already realized in North America.
Following a successful round of equity funding in February,
MontaVista has rapidly staffed its Silicon Valley headquarters and
two regional design centers, realizing a staff growth rate of
almost 400% in the past two months alone. The company has also
realized first quarter revenues in excess of all income for fiscal
1999.”

Our success in recruiting top-notch development and support
engineers as well as talented sales and marketing professionals
around the world allows MontaVista to deliver superior technology,
support and services
,” says Jim Ready, CEO and president of
MontaVista Software.”
