Simply.com is porting their Simply VideoIP to the Linux
platform. This will provide video conferencing capabilities for
Linux users over IP. A developer’s site is expected to be launched
Q1 2000 with code released under GNU/GPL licensing.

“Simply.com is currently under critical path in their port of
Simply VideoIP to the Linux platform. (A WIN32 bundled version
containing the software combined with the SimplyVideo
CompressionCAM is available now.) The product will provide
“NetMeeting TM” functional capability for Linux users in the realm
of video conferencing over IP. With the acquisition of CorelVideo
and Xerox Liveworks, Simply.com has obtained a codebase providing
the essential components to provide this functionality under fast
track for an interesting mix of video conferencing, audio
conferencing, chat, whiteboarding, application sharing, &
features such as business card and file exchange.”

“ITU-T H.323 standards observance makes the product fully
compatible with other H.323/IP offerings, allowing Intranet &
Internet video collaboration a reality for Linux users.”
