LinuxPR: Samsung And Lineo Form Strategic Partnerships To Provide Linux-Based Internet Appliances

Samsung will initially use Embedix Linux and Embedix
Browser in PDAs and set-top boxes.

“Samsung Electro-Mechanics Co, Ltd. and Lineo, Inc., the leading
developer of embedded Linux® system software, today announced a
strategic relationship to use Lineo Embedix Linux as the operating
system for Samsung’s embedded Internet appliances. This is
Samsung’s first Linux project. Representatives from Samsung and
Lineo formalized this partnership at a ceremony on Thursday in
Seoul, Korea.”

“This partnership is an important milestone for Samsung. With
Embedix Linux on our devices, we will become a ‘Total Component
Solution Provider,’ having both embedded system components hardware
and embedded Linux software,” said Lee Hyung-Do, CEO of Samsung
Electro-Mechanics.”
