“FaxTel, Inc. have developed an Internet Fax Box (IFB) device,
which Internet-enables any regular fax machine, and allows the user
to send free faxes around the World. The IFB runs on a small
footprint Linux, allowing all the software, including the kernel,
some utilities and the application to fit into about 2 MB of
FLASH.”
“The device uses 4 MB DiskOnChip flash memory, 8 MB of RAM, and
runs on a 386 processor. The IFB is entirely programmable from the
keypad of the fax machine connected to it. The device has a LCD to
display information about the status of the fax being sent and
received.”
