“The KDE project is bringing Linux to the desktops of the
multitudes. For all those people who use Windows, you can probably
learn Linux the KDE way with a minimum of effort and fuss, and your
computer won’t crash as much. And that is a wonderful thing.”

“However, it’s doing this the Windows way. KDE looks like
Microsoft – there is no way of getting around it. While KDE
extends it’s influence further and further into the Linux world,
there is no doubt that more of the general public is seeing KDE
running on Linux, and thinking “how is this different from my
Windows box?.

“Is this a good thing? Does anyone really like using the Windows
interface? Is it intuitive and helpful for the user? Has Windows
ever been praised for it’s ease of use and simplistic interface?
Not so often, and not by many user interface experts. Windows
requires an extraordinary amount of effort to learn, and as many
parents and workers found out, it doesn’t always work logically or
predictably.”
