“During an interview conducted the week before the LinuxWorld
Expo, Michael Tiemann, cofounder of Cygnus Solutions, repeatedly
stressed a key feature of Code Fusion, that company’s
newly-released IDE for Linux developers: its ability to work
seamlessly on both sides of the open source line.

According to Tiemann, ‘Code Fusion does have an internal system
for doing project management and build rules and all sorts of other
stuff, but we support exporting the data into a fully open source
makefile. So, if you want to be an open source developer, and you
want to be able to produce untainted code, the Code Fusion product
enables you to do that.’

Sounds like the best of both worlds, doesn’t it? Finally,
someone’s offering a modern IDE with extensive browsing
capabilities, and that same someone also provides an editor and
debugger with the ability to generate pure open source makefiles
for use outside the product.”
