Magic Software Enterprises


announced today that it will award a free 10-day cruise for two to


Antarctica to the developer who builds the best e-commerce solution


for the Linux platform using Magic, the company?s highly productive


development technology. The contest, titled ?The Magic for Linux


Really Cool Contest,? runs from May 20, 1999 through October 15,


1999, with all entry forms due no later than September 30, 1999.

Magic, an applications development


technology and solutions company, increasingly has been enlarging


its involvement with the Linux market. Earlier this year, the


company announced that it was offering free limited development and


deployment licenses of its Magic for Linux product to interested


developers to help them efficiently build business applications for


the solutions-starved Linux platform. Now, with this contest, Magic


hopes to help drive even more e-commerce and other business


solutions to the Linux platform.

Cool Contest

The Magic for Linux Really Cool
Contest is being introduced this week at the Linux Expo in Raleigh,
North Carolina, which is expected to attract more than 5,000 Linux
developers. Entry forms, which must be completed online, as well as
complete information regarding the format for submissions and other
key details, are available through the Magic website,
http://www.magic-sw.com.

The submissions will be judged on the basis
of their aesthetic appeal, functionality, ease of use,
navigability, overall performance and completeness. Judges for the
contest will include representatives of Magic and Jon ?Maddog?
Hall, Executive Director of Linux International, as well as other
industry and media representatives. The winner will be notified by
telephone and announced publicly in November 1999.

The Prize

The winner of The Magic for Linux Really


Cool Contest will be awarded a free, 10-day cruise for two to


Antarctica, provided by Society Expeditions. The cruise, which


departs from South America, features visits to the Antarctic


Peninsula, as well as the Falkland Islands, the South Georgia


Islands and the South Orkney Islands. Highlights of the trip


include ice cruising, birding, watching for whales and other marine


mammals, visits to scientific research stations on the Antarctic


Peninsula and wilderness Zodiac tours. Developers on the Linux


platform, whose symbol is the penguin, will be given ample


opportunity to commune with thousands of these tuxedoed


mascots.

    email support. Developers interested in entering The Magic for

    scheduled from July 19-22, 1999, in San Diego,
    California
