Business Case of the Week
----------------------------------------
Multimedia: Graphic designer and web developer.
Phil Ironside began using Mandrake Linux as a file server and
email/surfing station. He soon discovered many Linux programs that were
much more useful than anything he had previously seen in other
platforms. Phil explains: "I was a complete novice and now run my small
network with ease and enjoy my computing experience much more. It has
also increased my productivity and I am able to provide a better
service to my clients because I understand the net and computers more."

Quick Tips
----------------------------------------
NewsForge.com -- Using Mozilla 1.3's "Junk" email filter.
'Roblimo' Miller posts a quick tutorial that describes how to use
Mozilla's built-in email filter: "I now have a working spam filter that
gets rid of at least 95% of all the junk people send me, but hasn't
slapped any email I want to see into the 'Junk' folder for several
days."

Bitstream's 'Vera' fonts now available for download.
Bitstream and GNOME have teamed up to make the high quality 'Vera' font
family freely available to Linux users. These TrueType fonts make a nice
addition to the anti-aliased fonts already included in Mandrake 9.1.

Window Managers In Mandrake Linux.
'Deno' provides a quick overview of the many window managers available
in Mandrake 9.1. "The first discovery was the variety: far from just one
ui paradigm, there are ui's for Linux that look and act like MacOS,
Amiga, and Next, and there are others that incorporate the best
features of different paradigms as well as some that seem to me to be
truly original and unique. In many of them one can see the personality
and art of the individual programmer, and I find that extremely
refreshing after two decades of monolithic monopoly."

Spring cleaning at MandrakeClub.
Denis has been hard at work improving and updating the Mandrake website:

 * The main index page offers much more space to actual content than
   before
 * New forums index page loads somewhat faster and offers better
   readability
 * The new "lost password" function is far easier to use than the old
   one
 * Articles and docs use exactly the same comments function now.
Comments in polls will soon be moved to this new function as well
 * Search has been modularized
