Greetings!

This is an abbreviated MWS. While the US presidential elections
have provided much entertainment, and some distraction, my day job
has been demanding extra attention and has kept me from my sacred
editorial duties. At the same time Ron Parker and I have been
working on an article, which will be first released in the MWS in
the next few issues, unfortunately it has taken longer to get
together than either of us thought.

1.4b6 Released

A new beta of 1.4 has been released. It can be found at http://www.midgard-project.org/article/8325.html.
1.4b6 includes a change to the Midgard DB definition; some fixes to
some Midgard functions and some new ties to external system
libraries. 1.4b6 also includes the first, limited, release of
Repligard, a database duplication utility. Repligard is still early
in its development and care is suggested when using it. 1.4b6 does
not include Asgard which remains, at this point a separate
download. Users should expect at least one more beta to come out
before the final release candidate. As always remember that beta
software is intended for test purposes only and should not be
relied on in a production environment.

Discussion Forum

Jakob Nielsen has announced the publication of a Midgard
Bulletin Board Forum. It is a threaded forum open to registered
users. The forum can be found at:
http://www.jakobnielsen.net/midgardforum/viewboard.phtml?BoardID=1.

This should be an excellent addition to the current Midgard lists;
links to the forum will be included on the Midgard-project site
soon.

VMUC becomes MOVE and is on the way

As a part of the development of new documentation a new demo
site is in the works. VMUC is being rewritten and redesigned to
give better examples of Midgard in action as well as to demonstrate
the new features in 1.4. VMUC has been a great resource for those
working on their first (and sometimes
second) Midgard site and the new demo site should provide even more
help. The new demo site will be included as part of the final 1.4
package.
