Thanks to Dan Kegel
for this link.
I’ve updated my writeup of the new Mindcraft results; see
http://www.kegel.com/mindcraft_redux.html.
In particular, I now do a side by side comparison of the
performance graphs from April and from June. It’s clear there have
been improvements in Linux/apache performance under light load; it
no longer lags behind NT/IIS there. And under heavy load, there
have been vast improvements.
I suspect the improvements are half due to better tuning, half
due to kernel fixes.
The test showed clearly that Linux needs further improvements to
handle the 4 NIC * Quad SMP case. Zach says these improvements are
currently being added to 2.3.
