“I got the bits directly from Guy Lunardi, director of
“client preloads” at Novell. After speaking with me for a few
moments at the recent Intel Developer Forum in San Francisco,
Lunardi ducked into Novell’s briefing lounge, and emerged a few
minutes later with a USB key containing what he described as an
“up-to-the-minute” build. He proceeded to install it on an Asus EEE
Seashell system for me. He said if I came back that afternoon, he
could add another round of important patches, which he expected to
arrive within hours.“Your Linux is ready…
“I never made it back for the updates, but I was impressed with
Lunardi’s ability to quickly churn out live USB install images
incorporating the very latest Moblin patches. No doubt, the credit
for that goes to Novell’s interesting Open Build Service, a source
repo and automated build system aimed at distributed Linux
implementation teams, especially those mixing free and commercial
apps, or pulling code from lots of different places.”
