A recent post to the MSNBC Bulletin Board by a Microsoft
advocate:

“As a long time fan of Microsoft, I sincerely question their
latest strategies against Linux. https://www.linuxtoday.com/stories/6152.html
talks about how the Mindcraft studies are already benefitting
Linux.”

“The Linux community is agile. They are very quick to fix flaws
once those flaws are pointed out to them. Several of my colleagues
are involved with Linux. While I hold a deep respect for them and
their work, I personally wish Linux would just go away. I like my
NT. But Microsoft is making some serious tactical mistakes, which
I’ll enumerate here in cronological order…”

“If NT is ever to replace Unix, VMS, etc., Microsoft is going to
have to play just a little bit smarter. I want NT to become more
ubiquitous. I tire of dealing with old Unix. I applaud Microsoft’s
efforts to squash Unix and provide a standard platform for us all
to develop for. The latest developments put that vision in serious
jeopardy. Microsoft can weather this storm, but they must cease to
blunder in order to do so.”
