Thanks to Hal Moroff for this
story.

The subscription E-letter Japan Computers for March 12, 1999
reports:

Responding to similar moves by Compaq, Hewlett-Packard and IBM,
NEC will announce it is starting to develop Linux-compatible
products and a Linux system integration service.

Other Japanese companies, including Fujitsu and IBM Japan, have
already adopted Linux.

This development virtually ensures a rapid popularization for
Linux in Japan.
