“Open Source software provides Internet services for around 10
per cent of the cost of ‘shrinkwrapped’ systems, according to case
studies emerging from integrators and network managers.

“Speaking last week at a Netproject-organized conference here on
Linux, Powys County Council IT spokesman Tim Fletcher said
switching to Open Source software slashed 90 per cent from the cost
of providing public Internet email and Web access points throughout
the Welsh county.”
