Zach Beane (of Gimp
News
fame) updates us on the Gimp development.

“New versions of the stable and development branches of GIMP are
now available. The new stable version is a significant development
because it now compiles and runs with the latest stable versions of
GTK (1.2.x), rather than the old stable versions (1.0). This should
hopefully eliminate the headache of maintaining two versions of GTK
solely for GIMP compatibility.”
