“Microsoft shares fell as much as 3.8 percent today on investor
concern about threats to the company’s dominance from the Linux
operating system and the landmark antitrust trial.

“Linux got a big boost yesterday when IBM said it will make its
computers support the operating system, which is considered by many
software developers to be much more stable than Microsoft’s Windows
NT.”

“Also, Microsoft has stumbled in its trial presentation and
strategy the past two weeks, according to some legal and economic
scholars.”
