This author quite accurately describes a pain countless people
have suffered – installing Microsoft software.

problem.

uninstalled and reinstalled Office 97 twice. Same problem.
Maybe this CD was corrupt and the others used were OK. Nope.

the Word startup template file, could be corrupt. I tried deleting
it and then using Word. Froze again.
Maybe some other file was corrupt, perhaps in the Windows
systems folder? I ran Norton Disk Doctor. No corrupt files or disk
problems. Tried Word. That didn’t fix it either. “
