“Kevin Reichard is the Managing Editor of Linux/Open Source
Channel internet.com. He talked to Olinux about his work as head
one of the main Linux resources on the web, his bestseller, Linux
International, Li18nux, advertisement on the web and
LinuxWorldExpo.“
From the interview:
“Olinux: Feel free to disclose numbers as: how many people work
at this session?”
“Kevin Reichard: We have 13 full-time editorial employees, plus
the ad sales force, the guys who run Linux Central, and the other
support personnel (graphics, sysadmins, etc.) from internet.com. In
addition, we have three editors working on a contract
basis….”
“Olinux: There are already an uncountable number of commercial,
companies and community linux distribution. Do you this
fragmentation and excessive number of options raises consumers fear
while choosing it?”
“Kevin Reichard: I don’t view it as fragmentation: I view it as
variations on a theme. 😉 Having said that, I do think that the
advance of the Linux Standards Base will end up being one of the
major Linux stories of the year. But I love the fact that we have
different distributions for different purposes; the community is
immeasurably enhanced by the presence of an Elfstone Linux or a
Slackware Linux: if we only had three distros, I’d have less to
write about. ;)”
