Open Source IT: The penguin went to Tustin

Loki Entertainment Software is just about to release
Railroad Tycoon II for the Linux platform as it announces its
second Open Source project in the past three months: SMJPEG. As a
company that makes its cash by porting popular closed-source games
to the Linux platform, Loki stays in the Winners’ Circle by never
forgetting their open source background.

“Last week I got the chance to interview Sam Lantinga, Loki?s
lead programmer on the topic of the new SMJPEG project, long hours,
and frisbee.”

“open source IT: Hey there, Sam! Tell me all about SMJPEG.”

“Loki: It’s an audio/video encoding that we use for FMV [full
