“An old cliche says that a rising tide lifts all boats. If the
rising tide in this case is Linux, then one boat that is very much
rising with it is Java.

“Or, perhaps more accurately, there’s a synergy between these
two worlds. The two technologies work well together, and the
combination is growing more popular, used by ever more developers
to create an expanding variety of applications.

“What does the popularity of this combination mean? In short, it
says that the IT world we live in is moving toward a new era, away
from proprietary models and toward interoperability. Some favor
this shift, others resist it, but either way, it’s
happening…”
