“It’s a fair question, I think. Should Linspire give up Linspire
5.0+, contribute time and resources to Freespire (amongst other
distribution projects) and concentrate on making Linux services the
core aspect of their company? Before we try and answer this on
their behalf right away, let’s take a look at the current state of
the market.

“Let’s be honest with ourselves here, on the home desktop, the
clear winners are Ubuntu and Novell’s SuSE. With Fedora and Simply
Mepis coming in close behind them, everyone else is just filling in
the niches. Having said this, I suspect that PCLinuxOS could one
day give Simply Mepis a run for their money, but this hasn’t
happened yet…”
