“To prove that microsoft corp. has a stranglehold on the desktop
PC operating system market, Be Inc. President Jean-Louis Gassee may
offer OEMs BeOS to preload on PCs for free.”

“‘I will challenge PC manufacturers to install Linux and Be
operating systems for free to see how many will do it,’ Gassee
said. If OEMs, given the option, do not install the alternative
operating systems for free, it could support Gassee’s contention of
a Windows monopoly.”
