PC Week: Mobile Linux delay nips Transmeta

If Mobile Linux had been ready to launch last week, there
may have been less hype around Transmeta Corp.’s Crusoe processor
and more excitement about the operating system that will run on
it….

“Mobile Linux also is what OEMs need before they can start
shipping the devices. But Transmeta has yet to announce an
availability date for the new operating system….”

“Because it is designed to run on a full-sized screen,
Transmeta’s Mobile Linux is different from “pocket Linux”
distributions that are designed for Palm-sized devices, Hunter
said. Transmeta also has project managers investigating additional
capabilities for the operating system, including voice
recognition.”
