PC Week: SAP musters support for R/3 on Linux

“SAP AG has been busy at CeBIT this week. Topping the ERP
giant’s announcements at the Hannover, Germany, show were a
call-center application and partner support for its R/3 suite on
Linux.”

“SAP announced plans last month to port R/3 to Linux because of
customer demand for the upstart operating system. The company will
offer R/3 on Red Hat Software Inc.’s distribution of Linux.
Thursday at CeBIT, SAP officials said Compaq Computer Corp.,
Hewlett-Packard Co., IBM and Siemens AG have joined the effort as
hardware partners.”
