PC Week: Smaller firms eye piece of Web office suite pie

“Although Microsoft Corp. and Sun Microsystems Inc. are likely
to capture the lion’s share of the Web-based office productivity
suite market, that’s not stopping smaller companies from joining
the fray.”

“Three San Francisco Bay Area companies — ThinkFree.com,
Halfbrain.com Inc. and iAmaze Inc. — are currently at work on Web
applications that are almost final.”

“To build credibility for the suite, ThinkFree.com announced
last week that it is partnering with 30 companies to promote and
distribute ThinkFree Office to their customers. The partners span a
wide range of technologies, including the Linux/Unix marketplaces
as well as Web-based software, hardware and services.”
