PC Week: Sun blames MS as Java ISO plans die

“International Standards Organization drops request to develop
Java standard.”

“Sun Microsystems Inc.’s long-standing plans to submit its Java
language for standardization via the International Standards
Organization are dead, according to Alan Baratz, president of Sun’s
Java Software division.

“The news means that the Java language is now little nearer to
becoming an officially recognized international standard than it
was at its launch in 1995.”
