PLCOM: Protesters Seek Refund On Windows Software

Thanks to Peter Crane for
this link.

“The protesters carried penguins and shrink-wrapped software.
About 100 computer users marched to the Silicon Valley office of
Microsoft Corp. yesterday demanding refunds on Windows software
they didn’t want to buy and don’t plan to use. About 90% of
personal computers come pre-loaded with Microsoft’s Windows
software, which runs the other programs on the computers.
Yesterday’s demonstrators are among a growing minority of computer
users who don’t do Windows. They have chosen to operate their
computers on Linux, a system with a cherubic penguin mascot which
has risen to the forefront among the relatively unknown products
that can substitute for the Windows operating system.”
