== PostgreSQL Weekly News - Jan 29th 2003 == A preliminary list of fixes is available for the 7.2.4 release. You can view it in the mailing list archives at http://archives.postgresql.org/pgsql-hackers/2003-01/msg00982.php Though not concrete, the current plan seems to be to release 7.2.4 this week, and release a 7.3.2 next week. On the 7.4 front, a lot of debate has taken place on the topic of how best to integrate native windows support. IPv6 support also seems to have settled into an implementation that should work, though early testers of these features are always welcome. Tom Lane also fixed a remote problem in handling xlog segments. He has also implemented two new GUC variables that allow the query planner to collapse explicit inner JOINS together rather than strictly following the syntax. This change is probably most helpful for people porting from database systems where explicit ordering is not available. A fix from Oliver Elphick to prevent possible core dumps in pg_dump was added in, as was a fix for array subscript overruns (Yichen Xie). One last note, a new item was added to the TODO list to allow group object ownership so that groups can rename, drop, and grant on objects. This will help push forward implementation of roles. == PostgreSQL Product News == libgda/libgnomedb/mergeant 0.10.0 released http://www.gnome-db.org/docs/announce-0.10.0.php == PostgreSQL In the News == .org TLD Now Runs on PostgreSQL http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=03/01/24/1549207 == Upcoming Events == NET&COM: Tokyo, Japan: February 1, 5-7 Bruce Momjian will be involved in a replication discussion with the Japan PostgreSQL Users Group (Feb 1st).
