“HICOMP Software Systems GmbH, a manufacturer of enterprise-wide
client/server backup solutions, has announced the immediate
availability of full support for Linux as a system platform for SAP
R/3. SAP R/3 modules for UNIX and NT have already been available
for some time. Now, however, HICOMP has become the first backup
software supplier to provide an online backup module that can be
integrated transparently in SAP R/3 for Linux. In porting the SAP
R/3 online module to Linux, HICOMP was able to draw on many years
of successful cooperation between its own development center in
Hamburg and the SAP head office in Walldorf. In 1996, close links
between the two development departments enabled HICOMP to become
the first backup software supplier to market an SAP-certified
online backup solution for R/3.”
“Linux is very quickly becoming established as a platform for
professional users,” says Severin Weiss, Managing Director at
HICOMP. “Worldwide, over 2000 SAP R/3 solutions are already being
run on Linux at test sites, some of them at major corporations.
Test results published to date have repeatedly shown that the Linux
platform is ideally suited to integration in enterprise-wide
strategies.”
“The strategic integration of Linux in HICOMP’s backup
strategy gives system administrators a backup tool that provides
full coverage of all enterprise system platforms.“
