There exists a lot of confusion about the ideals of Linux,
open-source, and the Free Software Foundation (FSF).

“They’re a bunch of communists” is something I hear quite often.
And it’s not true.”

“Free software, as encouraged by the FSF originally, and now
with lots of press coverage and attention by Linux and the
open-source movement, has nothing to do with monetary value. Free
software does not mean giving away software at no cost and
forbidding the selling of software.”
