Quicknet Adds Linux Support to Internet Telephony Products

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Linux Drivers for Internet PhoneJACK and Internet LineJACK
Available, Release of SDK Planned

LAS VEGAS, NV (April 13, 1999 – Spring VON) – Quicknet
Technologies, Inc. the leader in low-density Internet Telephony
products, announced today Linux support for the company’s
award-winning Internet PhoneJACK Desktop Internet Telephony Card
and Internet LineJACK Internet Telephone Gateway Card. The alpha
release of Linux kernel mode drivers for the cards is now available
to developers for through the company’s web site. A Software
Development Kit (SDK) is slated for release shortly.

Quicknet is among the first CTI technology leaders to pioneer
Linux for Voice Over IP (VoIP) use. “Linux offers developers a
flexible and robust environment for developing reliable dedicated
applications,” commented Stacey Reineccius, Quicknet president. “As
the leading innovator in Internet telephony since 1994, Quicknet’s
endorsement of Linux for VoIP should be significant in driving its
use in Internet Telephony.”

The Quicknet Linux drivers include multi-card support,
permitting developers to create multi-line Internet Gateways and
private inter-office Internet telephony phone systems. The
comprehensive drivers include license-free access to G.711,
G.723.1, TrueSpeech~Y 4.1-8.5, and G.729a (Internet LineJACK only),
enabling developers to create high quality VoIP applications
without additional licensing costs.

Using hardware-based H.323 audio compression and decompression
for unexcelled audio quality, the award-winning Internet LineJACK
and Internet PhoneJACK set the standard for high quality, low cost
long distance Internet Telephony.

Designed for home office and small to mid-sized businesses, the
Internet LineJACK turns an ordinary analog telephone line and a PC
into a feature-rich, high-voice-quality, single line telephone
gateway for PC-to-PC, PC-to-Phone or Phone-to-PC calling.

For office-to-office connectivity with a LAN and personal use
with a modem, the Internet PhoneJACK Desktop Internet Telephony
Card turns analog telephones or PBX’s into Internet telephones with
hardware-based echo cancellation, full duplex audio, and
speakerphone capability.

“While Linux is the operating system of choice for most ISP’s
and for the large Linux developer community, Linux is an as-yet
untapped market for Voice and Fax over IP,” added Jeff Pulver of
Pulver.Com, the leading industry consultant for Voice and FAX over
IP. “Quicknet Technologies, with the introduction of Linux drivers
for its award winning Internet PhoneJACK and Internet LineJACK, is
once again demonstrating its innovative leadership in Voice over
IP. This introduction should further enable new innovative
applications of VoIP to be developed and will broaden the
opportunities in Internet Telephony.”

Kit by e-mailing a request to sdk@quicknet.net or visiting the
