gjots 0.3
Description
===========
gjots marshals and organizes text notes in a convenient, hierarchical way.
Use it for notes, jottings, bits and pieces, recipes and even PINs and
passwords (encrypted with ccrypt(1)). You can also use it to "mind-map"
your larger compositions like manuals, web pages, articles etc etc - write
down all your thoughts and then start to organise them into a tree. By
manipulating the tree you can easily reorder your thoughts and structure
them appropriately. gjots is a bit like the KDE program "kjots", but uses
the GTK library and supports a hierarchy of folders which are always
visible. Files can be output to HTML with an automatic table of contents.
Encryption is supported with ccrypt(1), so you can keep your musings
private.

- Items no longer have separate names - the name is taken from the first
line of the text.

- gjots2html now correctly quotes < > & and " for HTML.

Description

gdcalc(1) is a gtk+-based Reverse Polish Notation (RPN)
calculator for Unix and Linux with stats, financial,
programming and scientific functions. It uses code from
my original (console) dcalc(1) RPN calculator.
The GUI was written with glade(1) and uses the Gnome/Gtk+ toolkit - so it
should be compatible with themes and other whiz-bang features of those
systems.

- algebraic interface (a la Casio/TI)
- RCL can now be used in algebraic expressions

- gedit has a new plugins, including a spelling checker, Galeon-style tab

Preview Modules

The following modules have been proposed for addition to the 2.2 Desktop
release, and have been included in this release for preview and testing:
- system-tray-applet: The panel notification applet makes its return, as
seen in Red Hat 8.0.
Modules included since 2.1.0:
- gnome-themes: New package of default themes for GNOME, which currently
includes GTK+ and icon themes designed for accessibility.
- gnome-icon-theme: Default GNOME icon theme.
- metacity: Window manager for the adult in you. Proposed to replace
Sawfish as default window manager.
- vte: Terminal widget with improved font, internationalisation and
accessibility support. Designed to replace libzvt.
- file-roller: Full-featured archive creation, browsing, and unpacking

- gcalctool: Scientific calculator. Proposed to replace gnome-calculator.
Build Requirements
------------------
- The tarballs included in the release. :-)
- Some very basic packages not distributed with this release, such as
image libraries, popt and freetype. These should all be included with or
available for your distribution.
- Xft2 and fontconfig for superior font rendering and configuration, from
http://fontconfig.org/ These are not required, but strongly recommended.
- Python 2 with expat xml modules for libglade (some modules still require
the libglade-convert script, however we do plan to ship glade2 files).
- Docbook DTD 4.1.2, Docbook XSL stylesheets and a valid system catalogue
file for scrollkeeper (which in turn is required by many desktop
components for documentation).

GTetrinet is a Tetrinet client using Gtk+ and GNOME-libs.
Tetrinet is a variant of the popular Tetris brick game, that can be played
simultaneously by 6 players. GTetrinet's goal is to remain completely
compatible with the Windows, original client. Tetrinet clients need to
connect to a dedicated server in order to be useful. GTetrient only provides
the client part, but there are plenty of available servers around.

Notes
=====
Shortly after releasing 0.4.3, Steve Kemp notified us about a few bad
security issues in gtetrinet. Several buffer overflows have been fixed
by James Antill in this release. Steve was able to modify tetrinetx to
make gtetrinet crash and get remote shell access with the user ID of
whoever is playing with gtetrinet, so it's _VERY IMPORTANT_ that you
either upgrade to GTetrinet 0.4.4 or use a backport of this fix.

- SECURITY FIX: multiple buffer overflows fixed all over the place.
This CAN be exploited REMOTELY, please upgrade ASAP.

There's a big gap in GNOME's official release categories. On one hand, we
have the Desktop, which attempts to provide a relevant set of modules for
all GNOME users. Then we have Fifth Toe, which is our collection of the
coolest GNOME applications.
But where are all the geektoys?
That's where the Power Tools fit in: Rockin' little utilities, applets and
playthings for the "technically oriented". Which means, roughly, anyone who
made their way to this paragraph. Every GNOME Geek's Batbelt!

This release features HBCI online banking support. This makes it the
world's first free HBCI-enabled personal finance manager.
HBCI (Home Banking Computer Interface) is a standard used by German
banks for offering online banking service. Through this standard,
business actions like statement retrieval, bank transfer, or direct
debits can be invoked by any HBCI-compliant client application, i.e. now
also from GnuCash. Authentification and encryption is done through a
bank-issued chip card or a self-generated file-based RSA key pair. (In
the latter case, the user prints out his public key finger print on
paper, signs it, and sends it to his bank.)
