Reuters: Earnings optimism fuels Corel stock gains

“Investors continued responding on Thursday to upbeat
projections from Corel Corp. for profitable second-quarter results,
sending the stock to its third straight day of gains.”

“Corel will reports its results on Monday and analysts suggest
retail investors are optimistic they will be strong following Chief
Executive Michael Cowpland’s statement earlier this week that the
firm is “back to strong profitability.”

“Cowpland made the comments at a meeting promoting the free
Linux operating system, a rival to Microsoft Corp.’s Windows
operating system, for which Corel is developing software.

“You can tell from the activity in our shares, which have been
going up rapidly, that market confidence is coming back to Corel
due to the success we’re having,” Cowpland said.”
